I’m a 31 year old British expat, living the dream in Dubai. I’m a travel writer and the founder of RUNAWAYSOPH. Some say, I take pictures of everything…
My main aim for this website is to share my travel experiences and inspire people to see more of what the world has to offer.
My love for adventure and travel started at age eleven when I flew as an unaccompanied minor to Berlin with British Airways. Flying so young, by myself, set me up for life. It wasn't until my last year of performing arts college, aged 20 when I realised how passionate I was about seeing the world.
Once I graduated in 2014, I became a qualified lifeguard and swimming coach. Initially, this was to fund my big move to London to pursue my acting career... but every time, just before I decided to move, I ended up booking an epic trip or ended up working in another country. I have no regrets though as I’ve now travelled to 4 continents, over 45 countries and 10 US states. I’ve also worked in the USA for a summer, climbed the tallest mountain in Africa, and worked on a cruise ship for four months in Asia.
Working in Dubai for the last six years has been incredible and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. It’s the world’s central hub for travel, so it’s easy for me to get back to the UK and to explore new destinations.
It's inevitable that I will move to London in the future, but for now, I love nothing more than stepping off a plane in a new country...
