10 Best Sunset Locations from Around The World

Truth be told - I have a slight obsession with sunsets…

Here are some of my favourite photos I’ve taken in the last few years. Enjoy!

1. Grand Canyon - Arizona.

We arrived at The Desert View just before sunset and this is what welcomed us. The viewpoint is around 40 minutes away from the Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim.

These photos were taken 10 minutes apart. Unforgettable.

2. Sailing around the Japanese islands.

The first photo was taken leaving the port of Kagoshima. You can see an active volcano in the distance which makes the photo even more special.

The second photo was taken on a sea day, sailing between Shanghai and Fukuoka. Check out those dreamy and silky seas.

3. Mount Kilimanjaro - Tanzania.

After a long day of trekking, watching the sunset became an evening ritual. We took the Machame route on the mountain, which is known for being the most scenic. It certainly didn’t disappoint.

4. Jebel Jais - Ras Al Khaimah.

Jebel Jais or Jais Mountain has an elevation of nearly 2000km and it’s only an hours drive from Dubai. The landscape is the complete opposite of the cities in the UAE. I come here whenever I need some fresh air and a change of scenery. Each time the sunsets have been incredible.

5. Top of the Rock - New York City.

I’ve visited the TOTR multiple times and in my opinion, it’s the best way to see the city. From the 70th-floor viewing platforms, you can see the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Chrysler Building, Hudson River and surrounding boroughs. The best time to visit is around 5pm as you get to see the city in the daylight, then slowly the skyscrapers turn on their lights as it gets later. It’s magic!

6. Burj Al Arab - Dubai.

The first 7-star hotel in the world. The beaches surrounding the Burj are beautiful, with white sands and turquoise waters. There’s nothing better than finishing a long day at work, then coming here with a good book and watching the sun kiss the horizon.

7. Hot Air Balloon Ride - England.

We did the ballooning experience on a warm August evening. The atmosphere was so calm and the skies were mostly clear. It’s a great way to get those high aerial shots - no need for a drone! I remember landing on the ground just before sunset, just as the skies turned pink. Amazing!

8. Dubrovnik - Croatia.

Those Mediterranean sunsets. The landscape in Croatia is just mountains and water, so you’re always guaranteed an epic view any way that you look.

Who else likes pineapple on their pizza?

9. Santa Monica - Los Angeles.

Watching the sunset from LA is so special, as you feel like you’re at the end of the earth. Technically the only next bit of land after the West Coast is Hawaii. Being on this side of the world and facing the sea, you get the feeling of seeing the last seconds of that day - which will never come again.

10. London - England.

There’s nothing better than seeing London on a clear, blue sky day. Summer or winter. My favourite view of the city is from the Madison Rooftop restaurant by St. Paul’s Cathedral. Another great shot is from The Mall walking up to Buckingham Palace.
