DISCOVER EUROPE

Europe is the most visited continent in the world, due to the countries being so close together and the ease of access between each one. Out of the 51 independent countries, I’ve been lucky enough to visit over 20 of them multiple times. The highlights of my European adventures have been hiking up the tallest peaks in the UK, snorkelling around the Amalfi Coast in Italy and exploring the Old Town of Dubrovnik.

There is nothing better than a blue sky, cold winters day in Paris and London, just before Christmas. Going shopping, visiting the markets and running into coffee shops to warm up our frozen fingers. Fast forward 6 months, you are now indulging in pasta, wine and gelato on The Mediterranean. Watching a magical sunset from your balcony, overlooking the yachts and multi-coloured houses.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

There isn’t a bad time to travel to Europe - there is a time and location for every occasion. Budget travellers and backpackers should try to avoid the school holidays to enjoy the cheaper flights and accommodation.

Summer vacations in the likes of France, Spain, Italy and Greece are booked a year in advance to avoid peak season prices. It’s the same for the winter ski seasons, these can be pretty pricey if they’re left to the last minute.

Each country has so much to offer, with different cuisines, history and landscapes. There are so many hidden gems to be explored in Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. These countries aren’t visited as much, however they still offer the true European experience.

TOP TIPS

The train network throughout Europe is ideal for backpackers and getting from one country to another. Check out Interrail for their routes and deals. I used them in Italy for consecutive 10 days and I managed to save so much money by using one of their passes.

I also use Trivago, Skyscanner and Airbnb, to find the best deals on accommodation and flights. Europe is bursting with exciting city breaks which can be made any time of the year. I always make sure I have a trip to look forward to - from the UK, a new adventure is only a couple of hours away.
