A Barbados Bucket List

When you imagine The Caribbean, I bet you think of laying on a beach with a cocktail in your hand for a week. However, if you’re like me and start getting itchy feet after two days of relaxing, then this post is for you! In Barbados you can literally hop from beach to sunbed and not leave your hotel for an entire 7 days… but where’s the adventure in that? I’m going to list 5 activities that you can do to get the most out of your holiday. Enjoy!

1. Barbados Wildlife Reserve

Located in the parish of Saint Peter. The reserve is home to many free-roaming animals, including monkeys, tortoises, deer and flamingos. Set on four acres of land, you’re free to walk around and see how many animals you can spot amongst the trees. Arrive by 2pm to see the monkeys being fed, including the cute babies!

2. Barbadian Turtles

Go snorkelling in the clear waters and you may just spot some turtles! Barbados is home to The Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle and The Leatherback Turtle. They can be found on many beaches along the west coast. Leatherbacks nest on the shores of Barbados between February and July. The Hawksbill and Green Turtles can be seen between May and October.

3. Dine Out

Head out for dinner and find restaurants with unbroken views of the gorgeous coastline. Some of my favourites are Zaccio’s, The Boatyard, The Tides, Just Grillin’ and The Cliff Restaurant - pictured here. If you fancy a little boogie after dinner then head to St. Lawrence Gap, to unleash your Caribbean dance moves!

4. Glass Bottom Boat Tour

For $35-40, you can join a glass-bottom boat tour to explore the underworld of the Barbadian shores. Most tours last around 2 hours and you’re more than likely to see turtles and many tropical fish. Definitely worth the money!

5. Celeb Spotting at Sandy Lane

Sandy Lane is a hot spot for celebs holidaying with their families. Simon Cowell, Wayne Rooney and Mark Wahlberg have all stayed here in recent years. Sandy Lane has a private beach for the hotel guests, however, there is a path from the main road that has direct access. Even if you don’t see a celebrity, you’ll certainly feel like one laying on this beach - total paradise!

I’d love to know if you’ve been to this beautiful island - let me know if you managed to tick any of these off your bucket list!
