Montenegro is a small, yet stunning country located in Southeast Europe on the Adriatic Sea. It’s known for its diverse landscapes, which include rugged mountains, deep canyons, and picturesque coastal areas. Podgorica is the capital and largest city, though many visitors are drawn to the coastal city of Kotor for its historical charm and scenic beauty. Montenegro’s compact size means that you can experience a lot in a short amount of time, making it a great destination for both relaxation and adventure.
We stayed in the quaint town of Dobrota, which is a 15 minute taxi ride from Kotor Old Town. Dobrota proved to be the perfect location to enjoy everything Montenegro has to offer without the typical European summer crowds. We were spoilt for choice with many beachfront restaurants and beach clubs, located right on our Airbnbs doorstep.
I feel so lucky to have visited Montenegro before it becomes a ‘busy and expensive’ European summer destination, which I have no doubt it will be in the next few years. The country is becoming on par with Greece, Spain, France and Italy with its charm, water-based activities, UNESCO World Heritage sites, luxury hotels and famous beach clubs. I promise you will not be disappointed!
