Best Staycations in the UAE

‘Staycation’ is THE word of 2020, except for Covid of course. With travel being so limited right now, going on holiday in our home countries is the new norm. We always forget that there are new places to be found right on our doorsteps. The UAE is ever-expanding with dreamy resorts in the desert, honeymoon worthy hotels along the coast and endless 5-star luxury in the big cities.

Some of my fondest memories of living in the UAE have been from going on staycations. I have listed some of my favourites below, enjoy!

Gevora Hotel

Located in Dubai’s World Trade Center area on Sheikh Zayed Road. Guinness World Records have named the hotel the tallest in the world! The hotel boasts incredible views of the city from the rooms, swimming pools and the Highest View Lounge rooftop restaurant. At night you can see the hotel for miles, as the candle-like roof lights up brighter than any other surrounding skyscraper.

Al Seef Heritage Hotel

Located in Al Seef on the banks of Dubai Creek. This brand new area reflects the country’s heritage and rich history. The surroundings take you back in time, with the traditional buildings and Arabian architecture. It’s easy to forget you’re only 15 minutes away from Downtown Dubai as there are no skyscrapers here! Al Seef is also full of shops and restaurants, so there’s plenty to see and do on the hotel’s doorstep.

The Cove Rotana Resort

Located 80 minutes away from Dubai, in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. This was my first staycation in the UAE and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The Cove is a huge resort set on the side of a hill, overlooking the sea. The standard rooms have incredible views, plus there are water villas with their own private pools.

Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi

Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi with wonderful waterfront views. The hotel boasts a fun infinity pool, sandy beach and direct access to many attractions. With malls, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Saadiyat island nearby, this is the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway.

Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa

Translation: ‘doors to the sun.’ THE best weekend away I’ve ever had! Located 45 minutes away from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it’s the ultimate place to relax, switch off and get that true Arabian experience. The architecture of the rooms, pools and grounds are incredible. The resort is surrounded by untouched desert, where you can ride camels and hold falcons. Oh, and the bath tubs are a dream!
